Motorcycle fitment & compatibility

Will Erupt Rackless fit my motorcycle?

Erupt Rackless is designed for a wide range of adventure, trail and dual-sport motorcycles. There are two harness widths, Regular and X-Wide, to suit different bike shapes. Fitment also depends on accessories such as aftermarket exhausts, grab rails and side racks. If you are unsure, email us your make, model, year and a photograph and we will help you choose.

Do I need pannier racks or mounting frames?

No traditional metal pannier frames are required. The Erupt harness fits over the rear of the motorcycle and is secured using its mounting straps. Certain models benefit from soft luggage side plates being fitted to prevent the harness from swinging underneath the rear arch when you are on the move. You do need suitable secure attachment points and adequate clearance from the exhaust. Some motorcycles or configurations may need additional mounting arrangements and/or an exhaust heat shield.

Should I choose Regular or X-Wide?

Regular is generally recommended for narrower bikes such as the Himalayan 450, KTM 390 Adventure, BMW GS310 etc. X-Wide is generally recommended for bikes such as the Yamaha Tenere 700, Aprilia Tuareg and many larger BMW GS and KTM 790/890 Adventure. There are exceptions based on fitted racks and grab handles, so check the individual product listing or ask us before ordering.

Will it fit a motorcycle with a high-level exhaust?

Possibly, but exhaust clearance must be checked carefully before use. Soft luggage must not touch hot exhaust components and may also be damaged by radiant heat. A suitable heat shield may be necessary even if the bags do not make direct contact. Check clearance with the suspension compressed and throughout the full range of movement.

Fitting, security & everyday use

Is it difficult to fit and remove?

The harness is designed to be fitted without a traditional pannier-frame system. Position it correctly over the rear of the bike, attach the straps to suitable points and tighten them securely. After the initial setup, removal and refitting should become more familiar. Have a look at the fitting instructions here. Always follow the product fitting instructions and check the straps before setting off.

Will the luggage stay in place when riding off-road?

The Erupt harness uses industrial webbing and metal cam buckles to secure the luggage against the motorcycle. Correct fitting is essential: balance the load, secure all straps, keep them away from moving or hot parts and re-check tension during your journey, particularly after rough terrain.

Can I remove the drybags without taking off the harness?

Yes. The two 24-litre drybags are removable from their side holsters. You can leave the harness fitted and take the bags with you when camping or staying overnight.

Will the harness mark my motorcycle?

Any luggage in contact with bodywork may cause rubbing or cosmetic marks, particularly if grit is trapped underneath. Clean contact areas before fitting, use protective film where appropriate and check the contact points regularly.

Capacity, packing & weight

What is included in the complete 48L kit?

The complete kit includes the Erupt Rackless harness with built-in side holsters, two removable 24-litre welded PVC drybags, two 2.8-litre auxiliary pouches and a detachable beavertail with MOLLE panels. A separate tail bag and exhaust heat shield are not included in the standard complete kit. Check your chosen listing, as harness-only products are also sold.

How much luggage does it carry?

The two main drybags provide 48 litres of storage in total. The two auxiliary pouches add 2.8 litres each. You can also secure an appropriately sized separate tail bag or other bulky items beneath the adjustable beavertail. Always respect your motorcycle’s payload limit and load the system securely.

Is it suitable for camping or longer trips?

For many riders, the two 24-litre bags can accommodate clothing, tools and lightweight camping essentials. The beavertail is useful for a tent, jacket or separate tail bag. What you can carry will depend on how compact your kit is and on your bike’s safe load limit.

What is the beavertail for?

The detachable beavertail stretches over additional luggage behind the seat. It can help secure a separate tail or duffle bag, tent, jacket or other bulky kit. It can accommodate most roll bags up to around 30 litres capacity and is particulalry suited to the TUBE tailbags as they have a flat base.

How much does it weigh?

Enter the answer here. The regular width model is 4.4Kg and the X-Wide is 4.6Kg (excluding any tailbag)

Waterproofing, materials & care

Is Erupt Rackless waterproof?

The two main removable 24-litre drybags are made from waterproof PVC with welded seams. Correctly close and roll each bag according to its instructions to maintain weather protection. The outer harness and auxiliary pockets should not be assumed to offer the same waterproof protection as the main drybags.

What is the harness made from?

The Erupt Rackless V2 harness uses laser-cut, double-layered Hypalon and heavy-duty PVC-backed raft-tarp material, with industrial webbing, metal cam buckles and reflective elements. It is designed for the demands of adventure touring on road and off road.

How should I clean and maintain it?

After a muddy or dusty ride, remove loose grit and wipe or gently wash the luggage using water and a mild cleaner (baby shampoo is cheap and works very well!). Allow it to dry thoroughly before storage. Check the webbing, buckles, mounting points and bag closures for wear, and avoid prolonged contact with excessive heat or harsh chemicals.

Choosing, support & value

Can I move the system between different motorcycles?

Potentially. Because Erupt does not depend on a dedicated pair of metal pannier racks, it may be transferable between motorcycles with compatible harness widths and suitable mounting points. The fit and exhaust clearance must be assessed separately for each bike.

Why choose Dirtsack instead of a more expensive luggage system?

Dirtsack focuses on tough, practical materials, a secure rackless design and useful everyday features, without requiring a heavy pannier-frame setup. We aim to offer strong value for riders who would rather spend more of their budget on the journey itself. Compare the kit contents and fitment with your own needs before choosing.

Can I get help with fitting or replacement parts?

Yes—contact JAQTrading, the UK company operating Dirtsack, at sales@jaqtrading.co.uk or +44 1332 879090. We can help with fitment queries and advise on replacement components subject to availability. For warranty or returns, please refer to the current policies linked on the website.
